Quooker’s 100°C kicks the kettle out of the kitchen

If you want to make your kitchen as time, energy and water efficient as possible, you will probably have spent some time researching boiling water taps. 


Hopefully you will have realised that they are by no means all the same.  



For a start, if the water from your boiling water tap isn’t actually boiling, you’ll be wasting your money.   To replace a kettle – which ideally you want to do in order to free up worktop space, save time and make your kitchen safer – the tap you choose must dispense boiling water at a full 100°C. Otherwise it just won’t replace the kettle.

Reasons to buy a Quooker 4 – how often you’ll use it

More than anything else


Until you own one, it’s almost impossible to imagine how great an impact having a Quooker tap can make.  This is because it delivers genuine 100°C boiling water so it can completely replace the kettle.

The one thing that people – and by that we mean Quooker owners, kitchen designers, retailers and our own engineers – all report, is that within a couple of weeks of owning a Quooker it has become the most frequently used appliance in the kitchen.  


When you think about it, it’s absolutely logical.  On average, people in the UK drink between 4 and 6 hot drinks every day.  So even if all the Quooker ever did was help you to make hot drinks, you would use it four to six times every day.  That’s if you live alone.  In a busy family, where everyone likes to get their own drinks, or if friends drop by unannounced, that’s quite a few more hot drinks – and uses of the Quooker – every day.  


But of course, that isn’t all you’ll use it for.  Most people cook.

Hydration makes work go swimmingly

Almost all of the recent research into workplace productivity has come to the same conclusion; hydration is a key factor that increases and preserves productivity in a workforce. A hydrated workforce is not only a happy workforce, it is effective too.

A Quooker boiling water tap in the workplace is of huge benefit to employer and employee alike when it comes to both hydration and productivity. It encourages regular hydration by being quick and convenient.

Hydration is great for the brain, allowing it to stay oxygenated which acts to improve brain function. Reasons to buy a Quooker 3 - On the scale of things


Limescale is part of life in some parts of the country, which is why we do all we can to help Quooker owners to tackle this successfully. Thankfully, homes in much of the UK don’t have to face this problem, but in some areas, calcium and magnesium salts in the water do cause limescale to form.

Despite being well aware of the harm that limescale can do to steam ovens, washing machines, dishwashers, irons and a host of domestic appliances, including the Quooker, water authorities have still not invested in the technology needed to filter out limescale before it reaches end users. 

The good news, on the other hand, is that at Quooker we do take this issue seriously and have formulated a number of solutions for dealing with limescale build up. The simplest solution is to install a Quooker limescale filter which removes the limescale before it can reach the Quooker tap – which is what we wish water suppliers would do. This simply needs replacing from time to time and can be retrofitted, so you can add a filter even if your Quooker was installed some time ago.

The design of the Quooker makes keeping it clear of limescale as straightforward as we can make it. The famous removable aerator, which is what helps to keep the 100°C boiling water from scalding, can be unscrewed and removed for regular local cleaning, keeping it free from limescale build up. The Quooker tank, which is designed to keep water under pressure so that it is always delivered as truly boiling water, also ensures that any limescale that does collect is accumulated all in one place for easier removal. Some of our rivals allow limescale to collect in multiple locations – which makes them more difficult to keep free of limescale.

Does everything have to stop for tea?

Why is it that, according to the old song, everything stops for tea? Simple, it takes so long to boil a kettle in a workplace that, by the time everyone has managed to get hold of a cup of their favoured hot beverage, all of the flow and concentration that has been built up just disappears.

It is so important, in an effective and efficient working environment, to build working momentum. It might take most of us a little time to get going in the morning but, once we are into the rhythm of work, we can get lots done. Yet, when tea time comes around, all of that lovely productivity goes out of the window because of the fuss inherent in an ordinary tea break. None of us in the UK would ever dream of depriving a workforce of their almost God given right to have a cuppa, yet tea should not need to be a disruption, no matter how many cups you drink.

Time to think more creatively about boiling water

Ever noticed how long it takes to organise a breakout meeting at work?  That’s often because preparing refreshments to take into your meeting takes so long.  Everyone wants tea or coffee the way they like it – and that’s fair enough because creative brains can be fueled with a little caffeine and they certainly work better when they are properly hydrated.  But it’s a hassle to boil several kettles to get a round of drinks in, so it often takes a good ten or twenty minutes to get the breakout meeting going – and that can be bad news for spontaneity and creativity.
