Reasons to buy a Quooker 3 - On the scale of things


Limescale is part of life in some parts of the country, which is why we do all we can to help Quooker owners to tackle this successfully. Thankfully, homes in much of the UK don’t have to face this problem, but in some areas, calcium and magnesium salts in the water do cause limescale to form.

Despite being well aware of the harm that limescale can do to steam ovens, washing machines, dishwashers, irons and a host of domestic appliances, including the Quooker, water authorities have still not invested in the technology needed to filter out limescale before it reaches end users. 

The good news, on the other hand, is that at Quooker we do take this issue seriously and have formulated a number of solutions for dealing with limescale build up. The simplest solution is to install a Quooker limescale filter which removes the limescale before it can reach the Quooker tap – which is what we wish water suppliers would do. This simply needs replacing from time to time and can be retrofitted, so you can add a filter even if your Quooker was installed some time ago.

The design of the Quooker makes keeping it clear of limescale as straightforward as we can make it. The famous removable aerator, which is what helps to keep the 100°C boiling water from scalding, can be unscrewed and removed for regular local cleaning, keeping it free from limescale build up. The Quooker tank, which is designed to keep water under pressure so that it is always delivered as truly boiling water, also ensures that any limescale that does collect is accumulated all in one place for easier removal. Some of our rivals allow limescale to collect in multiple locations – which makes them more difficult to keep free of limescale.

  • Clean it yourself. A competent DIYer can easily carry this out, using the free cleaning  kit that we’re happy to give you every time you need to descale your Quooker. 
  • If you aren’t a DIY fan, then our limescale filter is probably your best option. Simply clip off the old cartridge when it needs changing and clip on a new one in minutes.

Quooker workplace economics – 2 Concentration


Does everything have to stop for tea?

Why is it that, according to the old song, everything stops for tea? Simple, it takes so long to boil a kettle in a workplace that, by the time everyone has managed to get hold of a cup of their favoured hot beverage, all of the flow and concentration that has been built up just disappears.

It is so important, in an effective and efficient working environment, to build working momentum. It might take most of us a little time to get going in the morning but, once we are into the rhythm of work, we can get lots done. Yet, when tea time comes around, all of that lovely productivity goes out of the window because of the fuss inherent in an ordinary tea break. None of us in the UK would ever dream of depriving a workforce of their almost God given right to have a cuppa, yet tea should not need to be a disruption, no matter how many cups you drink.

With a Quooker it takes only seconds to make a cuppa, so that the valuable concentration of each member of staff can be preserved. The Quooker stores water under pressure at 110°C so that, when you turn on the tap, there is genuinely boiling water instantly available. It is no longer necessary to hang around for the 3 minutes or so that it might take a kettle to boil. Instead, boiling water is there when it is needed so that a cuppa can be had when it is wanted.

If you’re not first to the kettle, you may have to wait longer to take your turn, whereas the pressurised tank on a commercial Quooker allows up to 11 litres of water to be delivered at a genuine 100°C at any time (more than 5 times the quantity of the average kettle) so if the team all decide they want a drink at much the same time, it’s no problem at all. A workplace Quooker can cope with making up to 33 mugs of tea or coffee at one time or, more simply, one mug of tea or coffee whenever a member of the workforce wants one, all day, every day.
