Stop the waste – switch to Quooker

You may have seen reports recently in the press, like this one from The Daily Mail, which confirmed what we always feared – that, as a nation, we are wasting huge amounts of water and energy by overfilling kettles – which is just one reason why we would always recommend a Quooker over a kettle.

A new study, published by Strathclyde University in Glasgow, examined how householders used their kettles over an 18-month period. It found that nine out of every ten families needlessly add to their electricity costs, by filling the kettle with more water than was needed and then re-boiling it.  This wastes an average of £5.39 per household per year, with some households wasting as much as £18 per year.  Across all 27 million households in the UK this makes a total bill of £145.4 million. The study says that this has a clear impact on electrical demand and regional carbon footprint.

Installing a Quooker instead of using a kettle reduces energy and water wastage, because a
Quooker only ever dispenses the exact amount of 100°C boiling water that you need, precisely when you need it; there is no water wastage and only minimal energy is used to keep boiling water available on demand.

As well as this, using a Quooker saves you time – the equivalent of up to four days each year which would otherwise be spent waiting for the kettle to boil.  The Quooker also avoids the trap of re-boiling the same amount of water again if you get distracted and allow the kettle to cool without making that cuppa you wanted. The water – and therefore your tea or coffee – also tastes better, as the surgical quality steel tank preserves its purity.

If you also add a Quooker COMBI system, you never need to use hot water from your domestic supply for washing up again, you can enjoy hot, cold and boiling water in your kitchen all from a single cold water supply, saving gallons of water and significant amounts of energy each year too.

All the more reason to install a Quooker and ditch the kettle – as if its great looks, even greater safety and undeniable convenience were not enough to convince you!

Full scale support from Quooker

It is a simple reality that, depending on where you live in the UK, there may be limescale in the water delivered to your home and workplace
by the water companies. It will affect the taste of food and drink and will, if left unchecked, shorten the life of every appliance that makes use of water. Washing machines, dishwashers, steam irons, cleaners and cookers… even boiling water taps. None of them are immune to the effects of untreated limescale and hard water.

The truth is that the water companies, who charge us significant sums for their services, could remove the minerals that cause limescale at source… but they don’t. Instead, they let the appliances in homes and workplaces pay the price of limescale damage that shortens their lifespan and affects their efficiency.

We take the limescale problem rather more seriously!  At Quooker we know that our taps
quickly become the most helpful and valuable appliance in every user’s kitchen, so whether you choose a dedicated boiling tap, Nordic Twintaps or Fusion, we know that you will use it a lot. Your Quooker saves you time, energy, water and money every day, so you also want it to work at its best every day.

For those of our customers who live in hard water and limescale prone areas, we have developed a choice of solutions for removing limescale itself, and also for dealing with the chemicals that cause its build up.  These will help to protect your Quooker throughout its working life.

Option one is the Quooker de-scale kit which we provide on a complimentary basis. It has been perfected over time so we know it really works. You can use the kit yourself; many customers have completed the descale themselves with no problem at all.

Option two, if you don’t feel confident enough to descale your Quooker yourself, is to arrange for one of our dedicated Quooker experts to descale your tap for you.

We believe the best solution is option three, our
specially developed Quooker Scale Control. This filter cartridge can be fitted to both new and existing Quookers, reducing water hardness through ion exchange technology – before the water gets to the point of delivery. It is not only the most reliable descaling solution, it also improves the taste of your mains water and will significantly lengthen the lifespan of your Quooker in a hard water area. Better yet, when it comes to the end of its useful life, the cartridge can be easily unclipped and replaced to keep up your protection.

Our customers consistently tell us that their Quooker becomes the most frequently used and highly valued appliance in their kitchen, so it is good news that it can protected from the gathering limescale menace for years to come, thanks to our full scale support.

To order a Quooker tap with a Scale Control please call our sales enquiry line 0800 102 0677.  If you already own a Quooker and would like to discuss scale control options, please call our aftersales team on 0207 9233355.

Have yourself a very Quooker Christmas!

Getting together with family and friends at Christmas is part of the joy of the season. Part of the art of getting it right is balancing the seemingly effortless and calm production of food and refreshment from the kitchen with a great deal of hard work behind the scenes. With the help of your Quooker, the kitchen can become less of festive prison and more a cave of culinary wonders.

As the festive season approaches, life is so much easier if you can get ahead with preparations; and that’s where your Quooker can help. Ice cubes for drinks will be perfectly clear when made with boiled water from your Quooker. Flower displays can last longer – or be revived – too.
You can get ahead with food preparation by blanching vegetables for freezing, so that they can be used on the day; and icing biscuits and cakes and making desserts like jelly for kids of all ages, are all easier with carefully measured quantities of instantly available boiling water.

You may be fully occupied in the kitchen, but guests will still need refreshments and, with the help of your Quooker, drinks can be prepared instantly so that you can stay focused on cooking. Whether guests want a nice cuppa a hot chocolate, or a cocktail with a bit more of a kick, the Quooker will be a real helpA Quooker will save so much time and effort on so many tasks, dispensing 100ºC boiling water on demand. Gammon is a Christmas favourite, cooked in boiling water; and for speedy gravy, instant boiling water is a huge help.  Whether you serve up potatoes, pasta or rice, your Quooker will give you as much 100°C boiling water as you need, just when you need it.

Christmas without brussel sprouts in the UK is unthinkable and your Quooker can help with all sorts of other vegetables too. As for Christmas pudding, is there anything more delicious than a proper, steamed plum pudding?

After everyone has left and the noise is a ringing memory, everything must be cleaned up before you can truly relax. The boiling water from your Quooker can help to clean whisks and beaters, as well as pots and pans and knives.

It can even help to clean up wine stains!

And of course, there really couldn’t be a better Christmas present than a Quooker!!

From all of us at Quooker, have a fantastic Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

The day our dealers cooked with John Torode

Last week, a delighted selection of Quooker dealers from across the UK, Northern Ireland and Eire were treated to an exclusive masterclass with celebrity chef JohnTorode at the Good Housekeeping Institute Cookery School in London’s Soho. We chose the location as we know that the Good Housekeeping Institute has Quooker TwinTaps on its work benches to help all its students, so we knew they would be invaluable!

The invited dealers were shown how to prepare a range of recipes which included John’s hot bacon and gruyere breakfast bread, roast chicken made to his grandmother’s delicious recipe and an ingeniously simple and delicious chocolate ice-cream amoretti dessert.

Everyone was particularly pleased when John demonstrated recipes that could be replicated at home for friends and families, using supermarket ingredients, while imparting invaluable expertise to help revolutionise their cooking.

As our MD, Stephen Johnson, pointed out, our dealers are vital to our business and a key route to market for the entire Quooker range, particularly our Nordic range, which includes the Fusion and Twin Taps, which are exclusive to our showroom dealers.

We greatly value the strong partnerships that we have been able to develop with our dealers.  This was a really fun day and our way of saying thank you.  We only wish we could have squeezed everyone in!
