How an inspiration became your Quooker

Inspiration for the Quooker
In 1970, Henri “Han” Peteri was an engineer working on the development of instant soup for an international food company, when he realised that if you had to wait for a kettle to boil to make it, soup could never truly be instant. So he began to develop ideas for a tap that could instantly dispense plentiful, genuinely 100°C boiling water on demand. Han left his job, set up a workshop in his cellar and set about making his concept a reality.

Instant 100°C boiling water – a Quooker world first
After 3 years, Han had indeed developed a prototype tap that delivered 100°C instant boiling water, but it needed development and he had run out of money. But the friends and family who had bought his prototypes were so enthusiastic about the product that they told him they could no longer do without them. So he persevered and, in 1978, Han patented the world’s first tap that delivered instantaneous 100ºC boiling water.

It wasn't until Han’s son, Niels, joined the venture after graduating as a lawyer, that the idea was turned into a fully-fledged project and the Quooker was truly born. Five more years of hard work and development followed until in 1992, the first Quooker Basic went into production. In 1993, Han’s other son, Walter, joined the company and the product was launched commercially. As sales began to increase, the business grew, the range expanded and, in time, Quooker grew into the amazing company that it is today.  Quooker is still the innovative market leader, developing and selling a whole range of products based around the original inspiration of providing genuine 100°C instant boiling water. Forty years on, Quooker designs, develops, patents, manufactures, sells and installs what is, quite simply, the most efficient and reliable boiling water tap available today, and still the only one to guarantee a full 100ºC boiling water, to totally replace the kettle in any kitchen.

Why is Quooker still the best?
Two decades of development went into the first commercially available Quookers and we have never stopped improving and refining them.  Others have tried to imitate the Quooker, but no-one has managed to emulate our patented invention; the original and still the only true 100°C boiling water tap. The high quality materials – such as the surgical quality stainless steel from which we make our tanks – also make our 100°C boiling water taste great; far better than the  water from most kettles.

What this all means for you
Buying a Quooker is a unique experience, as you would expect from a unique product.  Our guarantees and customer service are second to none; from quality manufacture; informative sales through our network of specialist kitchen retailers; and expert installation by our
dedicated installation team; to our outstanding aftersales support. Every Quooker tap is based on thoroughly tried and tested technology, but brings you the latest in elegance, style, safety and functionality.  It also brings you the perfect cup of tea, thanks to that unparalleled genuine 100°C boiling water.

We listen to our customers and to kitchen designers, and everything they tell us informs our product development. Quooker has proven, time and again, that the taps that we design, manufacture and sell are quite simply the best, safest and most reliable on the market. Once installed in your kitchen, our Quooker product will rapidly become the appliance you use most; replacing the kettle and saving you valuable time, multiple times each day.  A Quooker helps you to brew the perfect cuppa, to cook, to entertain, and to relax and enjoy your home.

Beloved by professional chefs, TV personalities, talented kitchen designers and thousands of happy Quooker owners, after more than 40 years of heritage in excellence and innovation, there’s still nothing that can hold a candle to the Quooker.

As seen on TV – Quooker boiling water taps

As the 10th series of Celebrity MasterChef appears on our screens, we can’t help reflecting
how much recognition the Quooker has received from the world of TV.  Culinary shows have discovered what many high profile professional chefs have known for some time; that the Quooker is the most reliable boiling water tap you can buy, dispensing water at a genuine 100°C  and high profile chefs.

Quooker Twintaps are now an essential part of the scenery on all the MasterChef versions, including MasterChef: The Professionals, Celebrity MasterChef, and Junior MasterChef. TV chef and MasterChef judge John Torode is a Quooker fan and has one in his kitchen at home, as have several former Celebrity MasterChef contestants.

In a pressured environment where timing is critical for both cooking and filming only the Quooker can be relied on to provide 100°C boiling water exactly when it’s needed, every time.

In culinary TV studios which need to be reconfigured according to the number of contestants remaining, the Quooker is invaluable, especially when teamed with the Quooker COMBI system, which makes it possible to equip every work station with hot, cold and 100°C boiling water with just a cold feed alone.

The Quooker Fusion is also something of a show stopper in The Great British Bake Off and its various spin offs, including Junior, Comic Relief and Sport Relief Bake Off.  In the busy and now famous tent, the Fusion helps with mixing, icing and baking; but also with fast clear ups before judging, and it’s much safer than a kettle too.

Saturday mornings bring us Saturday Kitchen with a dedicated Quooker boiling water tap always at the ready to help James Martin and visiting chefs – also used on Summer Kitchen during the warmer months with Tom Kerridge too.

Celebrity chef and judge on ITV’s The Taste, Nigella Lawson, chose a Quooker Nordic boiling tap to install in her new pink kitchen recently.

TV chef and food campaigner Jamie Oliver loves to cook with his children at home and posted a photo of them on Twitter.  Clearly visible is his Quooker; we know he has more than one at home, as well as at work.

ITV Sunday Brunch presenter Tim Lovejoy and resident chef Simon Rimmer both have Quookers in their homes and love them.  TV chefs Michel Roux, Anthony Worrell Thompson and Galton Blackiston are also Quooker fans and have them in their own homes.

Slightly less culinary perhaps, we’ve also spotted the Quooker on episodes of Come Dine With Me, Made in Chelsea, Last Tango in Halifax, The Apprentice and the soap drama, Doctors – to name just a few.

We’ve lost count of the number of times that a Quooker has formed part of a finished dream home in Grand Designs and DIY SOS...

And with filming in the bag, the Quooker is, of course, perfect for well-earned tea breaks for crew and cast alike.

You may not be intending to go before the cameras, but the Quooker is one item of culinary magic that you will want in your own kitchen.

Customer satisfaction: Dedication’s what you need

Great customer service takes effort and dedication. So it is with pride that we can point to the many wonderful testimonies from satisfied Quooker customers regarding not only our product, but also our aftersales service.

A retired couple from West Yorkshire took the time to write to us to say how happy they are with their Quooker. “I am writing to express our immense satisfaction with the PRO3-VAQ Modern which we installed just over 12 months ago. It was a big decision to buy a Quooker as we are a retired couple with limited resources.  Here we are, 12 months on, and massive fans of your kitchen device.” They continued, “It has been so easy to use, completely fault free and has become the most loved accessory in our kitchen.”

Dedication is at the heart of Quooker: 40 years of dedicated research and development have gone into this, the original, and still unique, only genuine 100°C dedicated boiling water tap.  We are delighted to hear from satisfied customers, time and time again, how their Quooker tap has become their favourite kitchen appliance.

But it isn’t just the product; the Quooker team are dedicated too, to excellent service.  And not only are they dedicated to being the best, they are dedicated to the Quooker product.  Other engineers go from dishwasher to oven, from waste disposal unit to tap. Our team are exclusive to Quooker taps, so their knowledge is precise and extensive. They are genuine experts in their field and have developed a reputation for going beyond the call of duty, whilstbeing prompt, polite and using clear language. One couple wrote; “The man from Quooker arrived at about 5pm and was here until around 7:30pm. He was amazing. He mended the faults, serviced the whole system, changed the filter, changed something in the tap head, tested the water and explained everything to us in great detail. All this – and he did it all for free. Unbelievable!! … They were so helpful.”

We also have a dedicated UK call team who are employed by Quooker, exclusively for Quooker customers. They have extensive, specialist knowledge of the product range so that they can actually address any issues that our customers might have. One of our customers was so happy that he wrote to Which? Magazine, extolling the great service that he received even after his guarantee had expired.  He wrote; “whilst the product comes with a two year guarantee, (which had ended) on contacting Quooker Head Office we explained the problem and they agreed to dispatch a replacement straight away. This was done without query or quibble and the damaged device was returned for examination… Well done to the company.”

These are not isolated experiences; they’re typical, thanks to our dedication to getting it right.  We believe in great service and we are dedicated to both our product and our customers.

They don’t often get the recognition they truly deserve, so we would like to say a huge thank you to all of our business development team, our call team and engineers, for their consistently high levels of service and their dedication to the best boiling water tap on the market.

Enjoy your Quooker, secure in the knowledge that we’re here for you.
